Give me your hand
Make room for me
to lead and follow
you
beyond this rage of poetry.

Let others have
the privacy of
touching words
and love of loss
of love.

For me
Give me your hand.

Maya Angelou

It is hard to exist on words.  There is no substitute for touch…for the warmth of another’s kiss, the feel of real flesh pressed to your own.  You cannot bury your nose in the scent of words.  You cannot rest your head in their pillow. They are just paint on the canvas of paper. Beautiful…angry…sad…colourful…words evoke emotion, but do not sustain it.  Not like a smile…or the simple touch of your hand.

I am an artist.  I paint with words. But in the end…they are just words…that need a person to bring them to life.

This is a beautiful poem!
It's a very profound point you're making there. :)

A very truthful thought. A very poignant one.
One I can sympathize with quite a bit.

I often muse about how much of what I write is based on truth and how much on fantasy; how much is based on personal experience and how much is a yearning for what wasn't or almost was.

More importanly, which one produces the best results. Life is good but it ends much too soon. What we create we hope lives on forever. You see where MY heart lies, eh?

I so agree. Everything is all inter-connected. It has to be...at least for me. I always seem to view things in "layers".

Layers... I like that analogy.
